This LeCreuset casserole is cast iron with an enamel coating on the outside that is manufactured in France. The pots are made using a sand mold, which are destroyed after each use. The Le Creuset Heart Casserole L25C1-02 is then sprayed twice with the enamel coating to protect the cast-iron..

The reason I decided on this casserole was because it had a very unique shape and color, and I believed that my wife would love to display it in the kitchen. I wasn't wrong, and she also uses it to make, bake and cook things in.

Because this is cast iron, heat is evenly distributed throughout the pan. It is heavy, weighing in at around seven pounds. With just two of us at home, she doesn't, much of the time, have a use for pots and pans that are larger than two quarts. This pan is large enough to cook a meal in and still have leftovers for the next day.

The Le Creuset Heart Casserole L25C1-02 makes it a very different looking and unique serving piece, and my wife displays it dead center on the dining table..

Medium heat is as high as my wife has used, and food comes out great. Casseroles come out beautifully baked, and baking heart-shaped cakes in it is suggested. Even Jello turns out looking wonderful using this pan. Just warm outside of the pan in warm water and the Jello will slide right out.

This has multiple uses so you aren't stuck with a specialty pot for the price.

Cleaning the Le Creuset Heart Casserole can be done in the dishwasher, but hand washing is recommended. Be careful about dumping the hot pan into cold water as that may crack the enamel finish.

LeCrueset offers one of the best warranties on the market, 101 years, so I guess one of our grandchildren will end up using it for the next 80 years.

I own several pieces of this cookware (one was my grandmothers and it's still going strong). This piece I've owned for about 8 years and it's used several times per week. It still looks great (and I cheat and put it in the dishwasher sometimes). If you want cookware that lasts a life time then Le Creuset is for you. The pieces are of course heavy and sometimes hard to handle due to the weight but it's never stopped me from adding to my collection.

After dreaming of this heart shaped Le Creuset for a long time, I finally took the plunge and bought one. Like most others, I was sorry that I waited so long to try it! It is an amazing little pan, and well worth the money. I use it frequently to cook for two, and it is the perfect size. It is definitely not a family size dish, but a nice size for a small casserole. I have cooked small roasts, swiss steaks, homemade pasta sauce, etc. and have had perfect results everytime. My husband enjoyed my cooking so much, he bought me a few more pieces of Le Creuset!

Although it claims to be dishwasher safe, I hand wash it everytime. It is very easy to clean, and I simply can't imagine putting this beauty in the dishwasher!
