A few years ago my husband and I decided that since we really enjoy cooking, we should invest in some good cookware that would last us the rest of our lives. We bought Calphalon - huge mistake! Now less than ten years later (and we're still alive), we have had to replace the fry pans, and the pots have lost their interior finish. What to do? Buy the best!
My mother has a few pieces of LeCreuset she has used for the past 40 years, and they are still like new, so we decided the extra expense was worth the longevity. This is very heavy cookware that is designed to be used at lower temperatures, which means it takes a little longer to heat up, but the heavy cast iron pots distribute the heat all the way around and actually cook things more economically.
The enamel finish cleans beautifully. If anything is cooked on, it slides off easily after a few minutes of soaking. This is a very small pot, but perfect for sauces or small servings. I can't see that the lip on the side is the greatest for pouring - it works, but I think a traditional curved lip would work better. Nevertheless, this is quality cookware that will become a family heirloom.

Le Creuset 1 1/4 quart Precision Pour Saucepan with cover, Cobalt Blue. The hand-finished craftsmanship and superior quality of Le Creuset enameled cast iron have long made it the cookware considered by many to be the finest in the world. Extremely heat efficient and works on any cooking surface.Beautiful enough for the table, yet durable enough to outlive its lifetime warranty against defects, this heavy 1-1/4-quart covered saucepan is made of cast iron clad in two coats of Le Creuset's famous hard enamel on the outside and a durable, nonreactive sand-colored layer of enamel on the inside. As cast iron is unexcelled for heat distribution and retention and the crack- and chip-resistant enamel is impervious to acids and odors, the pan cooks food evenly and gently without hot spots and can be used for marinating. It goes safely on any stovetop, including induction. The pan's heavy, tight-fitting lid has a tiny hole for venting steam. Its round, phenolic handle tapers at both ends for comfort and is ovenproof to 400 degrees F and textured for slip-resistance. Opposite the long handle is a helper handle. An anti-drip pouring rim provides added convenience, while a chrome hanging hole at the end of the handle permits storing the pan where its rustic appeal can be appreciated.
