Having been a regular Le Creuset buyer of casseroles and kettles over 20 years, it came as a great shock to realise that "nobody's perfect". This kettle was received as a gift and used under exactly the same conditions as before. As the water boiled it started to spew out of the spout, a situation that only got worse as the water was poured from the kettle into a teapot! Apart from the inconvinience of spraying water over condiments sitting near to the stove, the water was boiling hot and could have scalded anybody standing close by. (Thankfully, it didn't). The problem was lessened by restng the lid on the kettle, rather than fixing it firmly, but did not eliminate the problem. So we have given up on it and returned the offending kettle to Amazon.
